Culture Isn't Just Where You're From, It's When
From national culture to intergenerational culture.
To wrap up my Intercultural Journey series, I want to shift gears. Not from India to Europe, but from national culture to intergenerational culture.
At nearly every training or event these days, one theme keeps surfacing: generational friction. Has it always been this way? Probably. Every generation thinks the next is too rebellious, too different. But today, the gap feels wider—especially when it comes to technology, communication styles, and expectations.
At the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce Regional Industrial Summit, during a panel moderated by Antje Ute Bauer, a young audience member asked:
“How do we bridge the tech gap between generations?” And it was clear, resistance exists on both sides.
Yes, part of the solution is technical upskilling. But more importantly, it’s about building psychological safety and having shared frameworks to navigate hard conversations. This goes beyond borders, it's a global workplace challenge.
At StrengthMiner® Consulting LLP, I work in an intergenerational team. We don’t always agree, but we grow through those differences. Because true strength lies in listening, learning, and leveraging the wisdom each generation brings.
