Reflecting on an Intercultural Dialogue with France–India Leaders

It was an honour to facilitate a one-hour intercultural exchange for CCE Inde - French Foreign Trade Advisors, in the presence of the Consulate General of France in Mumbai

One hour is short. But it is enough
to notice how much culture quietly shapes the way we build trust, give feedback, read silence, manage time, and make decisions.

In France–India collaboration, many challenges are not about competence or goodwill. They are often about different expectations sitting under the same words: “yes”, “soon”, “direct”, “respectful”, or “efficient”.

What I appreciated most was the openness in the room. Leaders who work across borders every day took the time to pause, reflect, and question their own cultural reflexes. That is where real intercultural competence begins.

Thank you CCE Inde - French Foreign Trade Advisors, Barnabé Wayser, and the Consulate General of France in Mumbai for creating the space for this meaningful conversation.
